Old sky+ box, new tv

Tried setting up new JVC  tv model LT-24CA120 to unused sky+HD box. Box is dead so I'm trying to set up with sky+ box that was working before I unplugged it to replace with the HD box. What  cables are needed to join to together. No scart or HDMI on box, no scart on tv

A converter cable like this should be ok. Plug the scart connector into your Sky box and the red, white and yellow cables in the corresponding sockets on your tv. Looks like it's switchable either way (tv to Sky box, Sky box to tv) so you'll need to set the switch correctly.

Picture quality won't be great, but it would do until you get a replacement Sky+HD box as per your other thread.

@Madley  If there is no Scart on the Sky+ box it must be a Sky+HD box which would have HDMI, perhaps you could take  photo of the back of the box you are using?

@Madley does your tv have any other input sockets, apart from HDMI?

Re: Old sky+ box, new tv

It is definitely sky+ .  But thanks for answering. We have had it since before HD came into existence.

Re: Old sky+ box, new tv

Thanks for getting back to me. Our sky+ has a LAN, VGA and the red, white and yellow av inputs.
Our old tv only had an aerial socket and was set up by sky tech. to use that. I cannot remember/ work out how he connected that socket to the sky+ box.

Yes, that's the title of the thread. Have you read the replies? If your new TV doesn't have a scart socket either, you can either connect by coax (which won't give you a good picture and only mono sound) or replace your Sky box with a Sky+HD box.

If you have a non-hd Sky+ box then you'll need to upgrade it

Perhaps not entirely unreasonable, given the High-Definition Multimedia Interface has been around for over two decades.

Composite video (carried on the yellow connection) is a standard definition signal dating from the mid-50s, and the Radio Corporation (of) America plug & socket  was first used sometime before 1938...
