2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, the 4th animal in the zodiac. According to myth, the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac were selected by a race organised by the Jade Emperor - an important god in the Chinese religion.

 

Each year represents the animal who placed next in the race, and this loops back around every 12 years. In some cultures, the rabbit represents peace and longevity.
