How do I make longer recordings on the video doorbell

Will I be able to make longer recordings on the video doorbell if I put a memory card in the door chime.

The card slot on the chime  is not active and is not able to record anything via an inserted card from the doorbell.

The indoor camera though is  capable of recording to a card.
